The Government is being urged to stop the merger of the country’s two satellite TV networks, Rupert Murdoch’s Sky Television and British Satellite Broadcasting. Labour’s broadcasting spokesman Robin Corbett says the Government has the power to stop the deal under the new broadcasting legislation and must use it to prevent one man gaining too much power over the media.
