- Joanna Hartley reports from a special meeting of Greater Manchester Police Authority following the shooting of two Manchester policemen. Inspector Raymond Codling died and Sergeant James Bowden was injured after being shot by Anthony Hughes at a motorway service station (14/09/89). Hughes later shot himself after being surrounded by armed police. At the meeting, both the chairman and the chief constable called for tougher sentences for the illegal possession of weapons. Includes statements by Steve Murphy, Chairman of Greater Manchester Police Authority; Chief Constable James Anderton. Broadcast on Piccadilly Radio.
