Description
American journalist Cary Anderson reports from the Alaskan village of Barrow on international attempts to free 2 surviving Californian grey whales (nicknamed Crossbeat and Bonnet) which are ice-bound off the coast of Alaska. 2 Soviet ice breaking vessels are on their way to help in the rescue operation. Whilst an 11 ton ice-breaking tractor has been flown in to smash through the remaining 3 miles of ice. Peter Russell is identified as the UK reporter but is not heard.
