Description
At the Conservative Party conference in Brighton, Energy Secretary, Cecil Parkinson announces that the coal industry will be privatised if the Tories are re-elected. In his law and order debate, Home Secretary, Douglas Hurd has promised to combat the rise in violent crime by introducing electronic monitoring, more prisons, police and alcohol-free areas; however Danny Docherty(?) and Lionel Stanbrook say he is too liberal and raise the issue of capital punishment. Employment Secretary, Norman Fowler and Social Security Secretary, John Moore both address benefit fraud. Report by Paul Rowley.
