- Description
- The Government will today discuss the opt-out clause offered last night in the Hague as a means of enabling Britain to delay joining other European governments in a single currency. The political lifeline to Prime Minister, John Major was outlined in a draft blueprint on economic union released by the Dutch Government last night. But former prime minister Edward Heath, attending a dinner in London to commemorate the UK’s voting to join the EEC, says Major would be acting against Britain’s interests if he accepts the clause.
