- Description
- Mike Carlton interviews British Rail’s Director for the Channel Tunnel rail link Southerly route, Gil Howarth. He is disappointed by the Government’s decision the route will go through East London to King’s Cross rather than through Kent to South London, and the Ashford station will be a cheap temporary affair. He says it will be more expensive, take longer to build, require an additional station at Stratford and does not provide value for money.
