Michelle Verdier of the International Olympic Committee says that the Americans’ behaviour at the Olympic opening ceremony was disappointing as they carried personal banners, mixed with other countries, and displayed an advert for NBC TV. She says that it went against the spirit of the Olympics and that they expect more dignified representation at the closing ceremony. Interview by John Anderson.
