Paul Woodley reports from the United States on reaction to claims abducted American Marine, Lieutenant-Colonel William R. Higgins, has been murdered. Since his kidnapping in Lebanon on 17/02/88 there have been two claims of his death, both later refuted and in this latest case officials have stressed they have yet to see the video claiming to show his body. The exact date of Colonel Higgins’ death is uncertain, but he was declared dead on 06/07/90. Includes statements by President George Bush; Senator Bob Dole; precis of statement by UN Secretary-General Javier Perez de Cuellar.
