The former Chancellor, Norman Lamont, has been defeated in his bid to become the Conservative candidate for Surbiton. Mr Lamont, whose Kingston seat disappears at the next election because of boundary changes, lost to the sitting MP Richard Tracey. Here Lamont accepts defeat and congratulates his rival.
