- Description
- Three IRA terrorists, Brian Mullin and brothers Gerard and Martin Harte, have been shot dead by the SAS. Ulster Unionist MP, Ken Maginnis welcomes the pre-emptive action but says it is a shame that it was only implemented after eight soldiers were killed in a bus bomb. Local priest, Father John Cargan says it is a tragedy, whilst Sinn Fein has issued a statement claiming that the British Government is using bloodshed as an act of intimidation. Irish premier, Charles Haughey has called for an urgent report under the Anglo-Irish Agreement. Report by Kevin Murphy.
