- Description
- South African general, Ian Gleeson says that the last of the South African troops are leaving Angola. The withdrawal is considered neither a victory nor a defeat for either side and a Cuban colonel, speaking through an interpreter, says it is impossible to know whether all troops have actually left. Meanwhile the Angolan civil war continues and South Africa refuses to grant Namibia independence until the 50,000 Cuban troops have left the area. Report by Nigel Wrench.
