The Government’s latest figures show the biggest fall in crime since records began. The question is, can we believe these statistics, and would we be right in assuming that Britain is becoming a safer place? Home Secretary Michael Howard is convinced the Conservative Government’s law and order policies are effective and acting as a crime deterrent. But others aren’t convinced and believe the crime figures don’t tell the true story. Jeff Collins reports.
