- Edith Mott, an 87 year old woman, is recorded talking to her daughter Yolande McShane about her decision to commit suicide. The conversation includes her daughter’s advice on committing the act. Yolande McShane was convicted due to this evidence. Report on use of the recording (excerpt is heard) for a Yorkshire Television documentary to show people this is against the law. Sussex Chief Constable George Terry supports the use of the recording in the documentary and TV producer Michael Deakin is pleased at decision to allow film to be shown. The programme was broadcast on ITV on 24/08/77. The reporter is Steve Harvey.
