Description
The nine-nation Western European Union (WEU) has decided to increase and coordinate military operations in the Gulf. The decision allows Belgium, the Netherlands and Italy to send armed forces to the Gulf. Speaking after the meeting in Paris, UK Defence Secretary Tom King and Foreign Secretary Douglas Hurd say that Britain will play a leading role in coordinating the use of aggression and that it is vital to present a united front to Iraq.
