Description
This Week in association with Thames Television reports on the activities, police findings and political reaction to Father Patrick Ryan, an Irish Catholic priest and alleged terrorist who after escaping extradition is running for the European Elections. Presents evidence of Father Ryan’s involvement and connections with IRA bombing campaigns including buying of Memopark electronic timing devices used in IRA bombs. Includes speech by and interviews with Patrick Ryan on his views, background and activities and the allegations against him; and his ambition to be elected to the European Government. Interviews with a Memopark spokesman; unnamed Spanish neighbour of Father Ryan; Mr Bingham, a friend from Libya, on Father Ryan’s Libyan connections and the buying of switches used by the IRA on behalf of him; reaction in the House of Commons on Father Ryan avoiding arrest including speech by Margaret Thatcher; former Lord Chancellor Michael Havers on losing the chance of bringing Father Ryan to court.
