- Description
- The Government has been told it has to do more to help working parents. Its initiatives to help working mums and dads find childcare have today been branded as haphazard and unacceptable. The group Employers for Childcare is supported by a number of Britain’s leading firms, including BT, British Gas, the Midland Bank and Shell. The group has been campaigning for better creche facilities, cheaper child-minding and other improvements. It’s disappointed with the lack of progress so far, and claims Britain lags far behind the rest of Europe in childcare facilities. Today it launched a new blueprint which it hopes the Government will adopt. Anne Watts, Equal Opportunies Director for the Midland Bank, says ministers must introduce a national framework to help working parents. Male interviewer not identified.
