- Washington correspondent Simon Marks reports on a cautious welcome in the United States for the news former President Jimmy Carter has secured an agreement by Bosnia’s warring factions to stop fighting and negotiate a four month ceasefire. Carter’s mission to the former Yugoslavia ended last night in Belgrade with a meeting with Serb leader Slobodan Milosevic. Carter says international sanctions against Serbia can be lifted if serious peace negotations now proceed.
