Description

Report on the trial of James Bulger’s murderers, John Venables and Robert Thompson. The similarities between the murder and a film, Child’s Play 3, are discussed by Mersyside MP, David Alton. He is calling for tighter restrictions on films, and condemns violent films. Albert Kirby, who led the murder hunt, says videos were not to blame. Michael Winner says the idea of a link between the film and the crime is ludicrous. Home Office Minister, David Maclean says that rules on video classification will not be changed, and that Britain already has the tightest laws in Europe. David Kermode reports.
