Description
Paul Woodley reports on the lifting of an Equity actors’ union ban on British actor Jonathan Pryce’s playing a Eurasian pimp in the Broadway production of the musical, Miss Saigon. After a six-hour-long meeting of Equity’s Executive Council, Executive Secretary Alan Eisenberg announced the decision. Protesters against the ban had included actor Charlton Heston and Mayor of New York, David Dinkins. Tisa Chang of the Pan Asian Repertory Theatre says she will continue to campaign for the rights of Asian people and people of colour in the performing arts.
