Description
Interview with Paul Channon, Transport Secretary, who says the announcement of British Rail’s record three hundred million-pound profit does not mean that the wage demands of the striking rail workers can be justified. The national network is on a total twenty-four hour shutdown for the third week running and the unions are threatening to step up the action. Channon says the tragedy of the dispute is that it is hitting the prospects for future investment in the industry and in the end that means people’s jobs could be at risk. Male reporter not identified (poss. Douglas Cameron).
