Paul Maurice reports on an anticipated announcement by the UK Government that it is to buy twenty new Hercules freighter aircraft for the RAF at a cost of five hundred million pounds. The decision to opt for the American built Lockheed planes rather than wait for the development of a new European rival is likely to cause a row in the House of Commons. There are reports that Defence Secretary, Malcolm Rifkind and Trade and Industry Secretary, Michael Heseltine are at loggerheads over the issue.
