Parliamentary debate on rail privatisation in which Prime Minister John Major dismisses claims by the Opposition that the programme threatens to reduce the number of people using the network by half. The debate follows a report to the all-party Commons transport committee which says the rail network is in financial crisis because of cuts in Government funding.
