Interview with former Chancellor, Lord Howe (formerly Sir Geoffrey Howe) in which he warns Prime Minister John Major that the Government will fall unless he restores unity within the Conservative Party. He believes the measures announced in Chancellor Kenneth Clarke’s mini-budget are a step in the right direction but he says that the dissatisfaction felt over Europe by the rebel backbenchers must be resolved and he feels the rebellion over VAT on fuel should not be allowed to happen again.
