- Description
- Members of a so-called hippy convoy which has stopped in the New Forest are discussing what will happen when the Police try to move them on. The Travellers claim they cannot move on, because their vehicles are breaking down and falling apart - although Gypsies are offering to sell them parts. The Travellers defend their lifestyle and choice not to perform community work, and tell the reporter they are a product of his society. Tim Selwood, a local priest, has called for a degree of understanding between the Travellers and the Police. The Country Landowners Association has condemned those they call hippies. Local farmer John Twentyman describes the damage caused to his animals by dogs, which he claims came from the Travellers’ camp. Male reporter not identified.
