Following the serving of writs on the President of the National Union of Mineworkers, Arthur Scargill, and General Secretary, Peter Heathfield, over cash donated by Soviet miners to the International Miners Organisation during the miners strike, Ken Capstick, Chairman of the Yorkshire branch of the NUM, calling for negotiations to resolve the matter between the union and other interested parties without the necessity of going to court.
