- London’s top police officer has stoutly defended members of his force against accusations that they have become increasingly rude and unhelpful. Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Peter Imbert told the House of Commons Select Committee on Home Affairs that standards of behaviour among officers were improving. Two MPs had described incidents in which officers had been abusive to members of the public. Afterwards Sir Peter said he had been disappointed to hear about the complaints.
