Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher is angrily denying claims that her personal economic adviser, Sir Alan Walters, is driving a wedge between herself and Chancellor Nigel Lawson. Sir Alan opposes some of Lawson’s policies, but the Prime Minister says the suggestion that her personal adviser should go is nonsense, and claims he has her full personal backing.
