- Description
- Reuter’s Niho Yoshikawa in Tokyo reports on the contents of a letter sent by Japanese Prime Minister Tomiichi Murayama to UK Premier John Major. Japan says its Prime Minister’s letter to John Major was primarily to congratulate him on regaining the leadership of the Conservative Party but confusion exists over whether Mr Murayama was offering an apology for Japanese actions in World War Two.
