- Simon Bowden reports on the shooting of three Army cadets at Lichfield railway station in Staffordshire. Detective Chief Superintendent Malcolm Bevington(?) (named elsewhere in the archive as Beverton(?)) on the shooting. Witness and taxi-driver Peter Irmer(?) describes the event. Three hours after the attack, Mayor Michael Dillion-Lee was also shot and killed in Dortmund, West Germany. An IRA link seems likely. Army spokeswoman not identified.
