- Prime Minister John Major has been explaining to Members of Parliament what was achieved at the Edinburgh EC summit. In his speech he commends the work of Foreign Secretary Douglas Hurd and Chancellor Norman Lamont however, with rising unemployment, Labour Party leader John Smith criticises his employment policy.
