Police Federation Chairman, Leslie Curtis reacts to the new staffing levels announced by the Home Office. He says more officers would give greater leeway to draw men from the streets to deal with industrial disputes, and to police football matches. The Metropolitan Police is to get an extra 300 police over the next year - Curtis says this is not acceptable. He also claims that the entire country is short on police manpower.
