The leader of a Soviet mineworkers’ union, Yuri Butchenko wants money donated to the NUM via Arthur Scargill during the 1984 British miners’ strike returned as it did not reach its intended destination. Butchenko wants the money to be redistributed but Roy Lynk (Union of Democratic Mineworkers) feels that it should now return to the Soviets. Clive Myrie reports. Butchenko speaks through an interpreter.
