- Mary Wimpress reports on the police search of a house where a council official has been shot dead. Planning inspector Harry Collinson had gone to the illegally-built bungalow at Butsfield in County Durham to order its demolition. Police officer Stephen Campbell and BBC reporter Tony Belmont were wounded. Includes reaction from Superintendent Stan Hegarty; Ann Taylor, journalist and eyewitness; Keith Murray, Hethrington Council. (Albert Dryden was later charged and jailed for life for the murder).
