- Description
- The Fayed brothers, owners of Harrods, are condemning a European court ruling over a Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) report that branded them dishonest in their takeover of the store. Today’s ruling that there was no breach of the brothers’ human rights brings to an end the fight to clear their names. Their lawyers hope the case will add to pressure for reform and tighter control of the DTI. Ernest Saunders, former chief executive of Guinness, has now taken the first step in a similar action. Includes interviews with Royston Webb, Harrods Legal Director; Lord Lester of Herne Hill, QC. Paul Chapman reports.
