Description
The developers of the Rose Theatre site in South London have announced a ten million-pound plan to preserve the historic remains. The plan involves sinking deep piles around the edge of the original Elizabethan stage, and supporting the building on huge steel beams well above surface level. The conservation group English Heritage has welcomed the scheme as a breakthrough, and its Deputy Chairman, Simon Jenkins, tells Simon Bowden he believes its aims have been achieved. Audio quality poor (muffled).
