Description
Ian McGill, the 43-year-old man who held police at bay in a Surrey village for more than 3 hours is this morning receiving treatment at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, for knife wounds. He said he had a shotgun and had filled his home, in Milford to the south of Guildford, with gas. Earlier, he warned police he had booby trapped his wife’s car, parked at the village station. The car was blown up by experts, who found nothing. Late last night, Surrey police stormed the house to discover the man had stabbed himself in the stomach. Chief Inspector David Stevens says the end-of-terrace house had been turned into a fortress. Possibly for County Sound Radio.
