- Army spokesman Michael Middleton on the damaged caused by a bomb explosion in a lecture hall at a training centre for the Royal Engineers on a British Army base near Hameln (Hamelin), West Germany. There were no servicemen on the site at the time of the explosion and there were no injuries, although damage to buildings occurred. The explosive material is likely to be Semtex or an equivalent. The identity of the bombers is unknown but there is speculation that the IRA may have been involved. Male interviewer not identified.
