Swindon Town Football Club is to appeal against the Football League’s decision to demote the team from the first division to the third. It came after the club admitted making under-the-counter payments to its players. At a meeting this afternoon, Chairman Gary Herbert told fans he had offered to withdraw the club from the playoff. Local mayor, Derek Monto(?) has offered to pay any legal costs needed to appeal. Manfred Roxon reports.
