Drinking in the UK has doubled in the last 20 years with £20billion a year now spent on alcohol and the number of reported heroin addicts has quadrupled in the last decade. At a meeting of the charity Turning Point, Princess Diana (Princess of Wales) expressed concern about the situation and says the line between recreational use and creeping addiction i s perilously thin.
