- On 05/05/91, during a Cinco de Mayo street celebration, a black female Washington DC Metropolitan Police officer tried to arrest a Salvadoran man for disorderly conduct in the Mount Pleasant neighbourhood of the city. She shot and wounded the man in the chest, and a riot ensued. Mayor of Washington, Sharon Pratt Dixon describes the area, and the damage caused by the riot. Community leader Sylvia Rosalez describes the problems faced by local people. Includes vox pop with local Hispanics. Vic Peters reports.
