- On 27 May 1990, London-based lawyers Stephen Melrose and Nicholas Spanos were shot in their British-registered Citroen car at Roermond on the Dutch border.Two masked men opened fire. Local restaurant owner Paul Reingoud recounts what happened, as does Rene Leenders. It is thought they were shot because they had British number plates. Australian Ambassador Donald Grimes condemns the killings. Police spokesman Louis Steens says it may be an IRA attack. Oni Bhattacharya reports.
