- Description
- Social Security Secretary, John Moore has raised a storm of protest with his redefinition of who is poor. He rejects suggestions that a third of people in Britain live in poverty, and says many of the poorest fifth of families with children have a telephone and a car and spend a tenth of their income on alcohol and tobacco. Moore was making the claim in a lecture to a Conservative group in London and afterwards Des Fahy asked him to explain his definition of poverty.
