Description
An emergency control centre in South London has been opened to the media. The bunker, which is below a block of council flats near Crystal Palace, is intended to house up to 50 council and police officers for 30 days in the event of a nuclear attack. It was opened up for inspection at the insistance of Labour councillors, who believe the civil defence programme is a waste of public money. Reporter Simon Bowden went along to inspect the bunker.
