Description

David Kermode reports on an armed raid on JJ Barrett’s Jewellers in Putney in which two policemen were injured. An armed robber is believed to have killed himself. The incident is likely to lead to renewed calls for new gun controls. A man is being questioned by police. Includes interviews with eyewitnesses and Commander Roy Ramm, head of Scotland Yard’s serious crimes division. (The dead man was later named as Kevin Richard Gregory. The man questioned by police was Robert Arthur Knapp, later charged with robbery and possession of a firearm. One of the injured policemen was Barry Oldroyd-Jones).
