- The Labour Party has unveiled its new policy document, designed to be the basis for their general election manifesto. The twenty thousand-word programme, entitled Looking to the Future, outlines the party’s new modernised strategy which campaign organisers believe will take Neil Kinnock to Downing Street. Labour’s Employment Spokesman Tony Blair denies that picketing rights will damage Labour. Reporter Paul Rowley was at the launch. Labour’s Environment Spokesman Bryan Gould says they are still working on an alternative to the poll tax.
