Description
Convicted murderer Winston Silcott has officially resigned his controversial post of Honorary President of the London School of Economics Students’ Union. Silcott was one of four men found guilty of the machete murder of PC Keith Blakelock during the 1985 Broadwater Farm riots in Tottenham, North London. Through his lawyer, Silcott thanked the students for their courage and support but said he had no wish to make them scapegoats. Some students involved in the campaign to have Silcott retain his post have received death threats; this, according to his lawyer, Andrew Hall, is the main reason for Silcott resigning the post. Female interviewer not identified.
