- Description
- South African President F. W. de Klerk flies out to Germany today on the latest leg of his European tour. It follows a successful meeting with Margaret Thatcher at Chequers yesterday as part of his campaign to convince international leaders of his sincerity in bringing democracy to South Africa. He described the UK Prime Minister as a special friend of South Africa - but the European community shows no sign of lifting sanctions until the Pretoria regime abolishes apartheid. James Richardson, a research officer from the Anti-Apartheid Movement, wants sanctions to be left in place. Paul Rowley reports.
