Description
The man convicted of killing PC Keith Blakelock in the Tottenham riots is to remain as Honorary President of the Students’ Union at the London School of Economics. Most students voted to get rid of Winston Silcott, but a stormy meeting at the LSE failed to get the two-thirds majority needed to depose him. LSE Director, Dr I G Patel regrets the result; Students’ Union representative, Amanda Hart says she has received death threats; Silcott’s solicitor, Andrew Hall, comments on the situation; student, Nigel Heathcote says there should have been proper consultation from the outset. Gareth Furby reports.
