Description

Carol Allen reports from the Cannes Film Festival in the south of France, where Patty Hearst has appeared at a news conference to publicise a film about her kidnapping in 1974. On 04/02/74 the nineteen year-old American heiress was abducted from her San Franciscan apartment by a terrorist group calling themselves the Symbionese Liberation Army (SLA). After weeks of brainwashing and incarceration in a small cupboard, Patty was photographed taking part in a bank robbery. She was eventually captured, tried, imprisoned and ultimately pardoned.
