Paul Rowley interviews Labour Party treasury spokesman Chris Smith, who responds to the latest Government inflation figures which show a point four percent fall to the lowest level in eight months. Smith welcomes the fall, but says the price the Government has asked the country to pay has been too great. The figures follow a speech by UK Chancellor of the Exchequer, Norman Lamont to the European Policy Forum, during which he delivered a rebuke to Conservative MPs who favour pulling out of the European Exchange Rate mechanism.
